Infectious diseases affect all populations and are encountered across every medical specialty. For this reason, the UBC Division of Infectious Disease is deeply committed to educating medical trainees at all stages of training, from undergraduate to postgraduate, and across a wide range of specialties.

At the undergraduate level, the Division of Infectious Disease designs and delivers the Immune System curriculum throughout all four years of the UBC medical program. Many Infectious Diseases faculty members are actively involved in teaching, both in the classroom and at the bedside.

Medical students and residents who rotate through clinical services receive hands-on training in adult infectious disease diagnosis and management. This training is integrated with the clinical activities of Infectious Diseases faculty, who provide care in inpatient units and emergency departments at Vancouver’s major teaching hospitals, including Vancouver General Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital, and sites across the province.
