Bach, Dr. Horacio
Dr. Horacio Bach is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of British Columbia and the Manager of the Proteomic and Antibody Engineering Facility at the Immunity and Infection Research Centre. His research focuses on several topics, including the study of virulent factors from pathogenic Mycobacteria. This topic includes understanding the mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions and the role of Mycobacterium paratuberculosis in inflammatory bowel diseases. In addition, Dr. Bach’s lab is engaged in developing single-chain antibodies to neutralize respiratory viruses, targeting the virus before infection and nanoparticle-based antimicrobial agents to fight multidrug-resistant pathogens. Dr. Bach’s lab is also developing rapid tests for diagnosis and environmental surveillance of influenza viruses.
